25th Annual Gemini Awards, winners announced
The Gemini Awards celebrated their 25th edition at the Winter Garden Theatre in Toronto on Saturday night. The big winner at as the Winnipeg-based comedy Less Than Kind, which won Best Comedy Program, Best Writing in a Comedy or Variety Program, and Best Actor in a Comedy for Benjamin Arthur. It was a bittersweet night for the show as their cast and crew are still mourning the death of its lead actor Maury Chaykin, who died in July on his 61st birthday.
Best Dramatic Series went to CBC's Irish-Canadian co-production The Tudors about King Henry the VIII. It beat Flashpoint, which entered the night as the favourite with 15 nominations. Its only win was for Best Direction in a Dramatic Series for David Frazee.
The evening was hosted by Calgary-born star of Glee, Cory Monteith. But the night was also a big one for U.K. attendees. In addition to wins by The Tudors, Scottish actor Robert Carlyle won Best Performance by an Actor in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role for his part in Stargate Universe. Previously, the winners for Documentary, Lifestyle, News & Sports were announced on November 2nd, while the winners in the categories of Drama, Children's & Youth, Comedy & Variety were announced the following night on November 3rd. Tonight's awards show distributed the final 19 awards.

25th Annual Gemini Awards Conclude With Star-Studded Broadcast Gala Hosted by Cory Monteith
Toronto, ON – November 13, 2010 – The 25th Annual Gemini Awards concluded its silver anniversary celebration this evening with a black-tie Broadcast Gala at Toronto’s historic Winter Garden Theatre. Hosted by Glee’s Cory Monteith, a total of 19 awards were presented, including those for Best Comedy Program or Series and Best Dramatic Series. The awards gala, broadcast on Global and Showcase, featured a moving tribute to Degrassi, and an unforgettable performance by Elvis Costello with Feist, Ron Sexsmith, Kendel Carson, and Barry Bales.
