25th Premios Goyas (Goya Awards) for Spanish film - winners
The Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas de España (Spanish Academy of Cinematic Art and Science) held their 25th Premios Goyas (Goya Awards) tonight in Madrid's Royal Theatre.
Pa negre (Black Bread) was the night's big winner with nine awards. Its wins included Best Film, Director and Adapted Screenplay for Agustí Villaronga. It won four acting awards -- Best Actress (Nora Navas), Supporting Actress (Laia Marull), New Actress (Marina Comas) and New Actor (Francesc Colomer).
Two films won three awards. También la lluvia (Even the Rain) won for Production Supervision, Supporting Actor (Karra Elejalde) and Original Score. Buried took prizes for Original Screenplay (Chris Sparling), Editing and Sound.
Balada triste de trompeta (The Last Circus) had led with 15 nominations, but only came away with two awards in the Makeup/Hair and Special Effects categories.
Academy Award-nominated Javier Bardem won Best Actor for his role in Biutiful. It was the film's only award.
The winner of Best European Film was El discurso del Rey (The King's Speech). The Best Foreign Film in the Spanish Language went to La vida de los peces (The Life of Fish) from Chile.
