An Evening with Bruce McDonald - free event [UPDATED]
The Cinema Studies Student Union at the University of Toronto presents An Evening with Bruce McDonald this Wednesday, March 9.
The renowned local director will be on hand to introduce a screening of This Movie is Broken, one of four(!) films he made in 2010. The movie is a fictional, but incorporates live concert footage of Broken Social Scene from their 2009 concert at Harbourfront. It stars Greg Calderone, Georgina Reilly, Kerr Hewitt, Stephen McHattie and the late Tracy Wright. After the screening, McDonald will participate in a Q&A with Professor Kass Banning.
The event is free and open to all.
Afterward, there will be a free reception in the Innis Café. Food will be provided and there as well as a cash bar. The event takes place on Wednesday, March 9 at 7pm at Innis Town Hall, 2 Sussex Ave., one block south of St. George and Bloor St. W.
[UPDATE] Bruce McDonald has unfortunately had to cancel his appearance due to an unavoidable last-minute engagement. The screening of This Movie is Broken, however, will go ahead as will the reception afterward. There will be free giveaways including t-shirts, movie passes, and posters.
