Yet again, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was the dominant winner even though it had been nominated alongside The Twilight Saga: New Moon at last summer's Teen Choice Awards and already won several awards. This time, it picked up prizes for Choice Movie Actor: Sci Fi/Fantasy (Taylor Lautner), Choice Movie Actor: Drama (Robert Pattinson), Choice Movie: Scene Stealer Male (Kellan Lutz) and Choice Movie: Scene Stealer Female (Ashley Greene).
The Harry Potter franchise picked up more awards however for both Parts 1 and 2 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Its six wins included Choice Movie: Sci-Fi/Fantasy for Part 1, and Choice Movie of the Summer for Part 2.
Other multiple winners included Bad Teacher which claimed Choice Comedy Movie and also won the comedy acting prizes for its stars Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz. The Tourist won the acting awards in the Action Movie category for stars Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp. Black Swan won for Drama Movie and Drama Actress (Natalie Portman). Awards for Romantic Comedy and Romantic Comedy Actress (Emma Stone) went to Easy A. Just Go With It took Female Movie Breakout (Brooklyn Decker) and Movie Chemistry (Adam Sandler/Jennifer Aniston) awards.
In the television categories, The Vampire Diaries came out on top with five awards. It won each of the Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Scene Stealer prizes.
For music, Taylor Swift dominated with a total of six wins. Four were in the music division, while two additional awards were for Choice Red Carpet Fashion Icon: Female and for the Ultimate Choice Award.
Nominations were first announced at the end of June, followed by a second wave of nominations in July. Winners were selected by online public voting.
