LIVE! AMMUNITION! Pitching Contest


Raindance brings their LIVE! AMMUNITION! Pitching Contest to Toronto today to give everyone a chance to sell a panel of film industry professionals on their movie ideas. Anyone can sign up and win prizes.

Everyone who wants to will be given two minutes to sell their idea to the judges and to the audience. Prizes include the first place prize of cash, lunch with industry panelist, script coverage from Raindance Canada, a free Raindance course, free premium membership with Raindance and a mention in the Raindance Newletter.

The judges for the event will be actress Shauna MacDonald, broadcaster Jane Jankovic, musician Rita Chiarelli, and filmmakers Ingrid Veninger and Zoltán Barabás.

Raindance is an international organization begun in England to support independent filmmakers. They launched the British Independent Film Awards in 1998. They've since expanded internationally and in Canada, they have branches in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.

The LIVE! AMMUNITION! Pitching Contest takes place at 783 College St. West starting at 6pm.

Raindance signature pitching contest is back! Your chance to pitch your movie idea directly to a panel of top Canadian film industry executives. This event sold out in London recently and featured Paul Brett, Executive Producer of The King's Speech on the panel.         
Pitch your brilliant movie idea in 2 MINUTES to a panel of experts in front of a LIVE audience. Nerve wracking and fun. Could lead to an option for your film idea or screenplay if you pitch it right. If you missed last spring's event in Toronto,  don't miss out this fall. Elliot Grove, founder of Raindance, will be in town to host this intense event at THE REVIVAL BAR on College St., followed by our Boozin' n' Schmoozin' networking afterwards.   Master of Ceremonies:  ELLIOT GROVE
Elliot Grove founded Raindance Film Festival in 1993, the  British  Independent Film  Awards in 1998, and Raindance.TV in  2007. He has produced over 150 short films, and 5 feature films. He has written eight scripts, one of which is currently in pre-      production. His first feature film, TABLE 5 was shot on 35mm and completed for a    total of £278.38. He teaches writers and producers in the UK, Europe. Japan  and America.

Shauna MacDonald
One of Canada's most successful actors, Shauna MacDonald's film credits include Breakfast With Scot, The Mad, Spinning Boris, Love is Work, SAW VI, Saint Ralph and Saw3D.  She recently appeared in The Kennedys and the indie feature At Home By Myself With You along with Disney’s Harriet the Spy: Blog Wars. Shauna has Guest-starred on Covert Affairs(Showcase/USA), Lost Girl (Showcase), Warehouse 13 (Scy Fy), Flashpoint (CBS),      The Listener (CBS),  The Best Years (N Network), Being Erica (CBC), Republic of Doyle (CBC),   Life with Derek and Regenesis (CTV).   She has had recurring roles onThis Hour has 22 Minutes (CBC), Trailer Park Boys (Showcase),Jeff Ltd. (Showcase), Aaron Stone (Disney), Majority Rules(Teletoon) and Testees (Showcase).  She will next appear in Mike Clattenburg’s (Trailer Park Boys) latest feature The Guys Who Move Furniture in 2012 and is currently writing and producing her first feature, in which she will star, entitled Tru Love.
Jane Jankovic 
Jane Jankovic is Commissioning Editor of Canadian Documentaries at TVO. She is also supervising producer of Saturday Night At The Movies and the current affairs program Allan Gregg In Conversation. Her latest initiative is TVO Doc Studio, docstudio@tvo.org, an online destination that celebrates POV documentaries and the filmmakers who make them.
Rita Chiarelli 
Rita Chiarelli stars in and has produced the soundtrack for the  award-winning documentary Music From the Big House,  directed by Canada’s Bruce MacDonald and filmed in Louisiana State Maximum Security Penitentiary, which premiered at Raindance Film Festival in 2011.  She is Canada’s most highly acclaimed female roots and blues artist, having won a JUNO award and garnering 4 nominations. She won in the world music category at the prestigious Canada Folk Music Awards for Cuore, a recording of traditional Italian folk songs. Over the past decade, Rita Chiarelli has won every major Canada blues award, including multiple Mapleblues Awards, CBC’s Great Canadian Blues Award, Toronto Independent Music Award, Hamilton Music Award, Manitoba Blues Society and the Hamilton Blues Society’s lifetime Achievement Awards.
Ingrid Veninger  
Ingrid Veninger formed pUNK Films Inc. in 2003 with a “nothing is impossible” manifesto. An award-winning creative producer, Ingrid has made numerous films, including: GAMBLING, GODS AND LSD, (Genie Award for Best Documentary, 2002), THE LIMB SALESMAN (TIFF 2004), ONLY (TIFF 2008), NURSE.FIGHTER.BOY (TIFF 2008 and nominated for 10 Genie Awards in 2010 including, Best Motion Picture), and MODRA (TIFF 2010). Currently, Ingrid is teaching at York University, co-producing Peter Mettler's END OF TIME with the NFB, and touring festivals with her latest feature as director/writer/producer/actor, recently shot in the UK, Paris and Berlin, entitled: i am a good person/i am a bad personwww.punkfilms.ca
Host Zoltan Barabas   
Zoltán Barabás has been a producer on four feature films, executive produced a TV show in Hungary, directed a feature length docu-drama, and three short films. Zoltan has taught many people how to successfully pitch, and he recently taught two of the top three prize winners at our spring LIVE! AMMUNITION! Pitching contest.
