2011 Annie Awards - nominations
The Hollywood branch of the Association Internationale du Film d’Animation (International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood has announced the nominations for the 39th Annual Annie Awards.
Leading a large field, Kung Fu Panda 2 picked up 12 nominations including Best Animated Feature.
Puss In Boots and Rango followed with nine nominations each. They were also nominated in the Best Animated Feature category, as were A Cat in Paris, Arrugas (Wrinkles), Arthur Christmas, Cars 2, Chico & Rita, Rio and The Adventures of Tintin.
The Annie Awards have often been controversial in year's past because voting rules were such that companies could sign up their employees to vote en masse. This resulted in Disney/Pixar withdrawing from the Association. This year, they have returned and many categories have expanded lists of nominees to keep everyone happy.
The 2011 Annie Award winners will be announced at the 39th Annual Annie Awards ceremony on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at UCLA's Royce Hall, in Los Angeles, CA.
