2012 GALECA Dorian Awards - nominations


The Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association (GALECA) has announced the nominees for their 3rd Annual Dorian Awards. The nominees for Film of the Year are Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris, Michel Havanavicius' The Artist, Alexander Payne's The Descendants, Pedro Almodovar's The Skin I Live In, Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life and Andrew Haigh's Weekend.

Weekend was one of the few multiple nominees, picking up an additional nomination for LGBT-Themed Film of the Year. The others were Albert Nobbs for LGBT-Themed Film and Performance (Janet McTeer), and Beginners also for LGBT-Themed Film and Performance (Christopher Plummer).

Competing with McTeer and Plummer for Performance of the year are Leonardo DiCaprio for J Edgar, Meryl Streep for The Iron Lady, Michael Fassbender for Shame and Rooney Mara for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Michael Fassbender picked up another nomination for the We're Wilde About You Rising Star Award.

The two other LGBT-Themed Film of the Year nominees are Pariah and Tomboy.

Nominees for Campy (Intentional Or Not) Film of the Year are Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, Kaboom, The Muppets, Thor and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1.

Winners of the Dorian Awards will be announced Jan. 16. GALECA will hold a celebratory toast on February 19 in Los Angeles.
