Bodil-prisen 2012 (Danish Film Awards) - nominations
The Filmmedarbejderforeningen (National Association of Film Critics) of Denmark have announced the nominees for their 65th Bodil-prisen (Bodil Awards). The awards are named in honour of two of the most important actresses in Danish cinema, Bodil Kjer and Bodil Ipsen and are among the oldest film awards in Europe.
Lars von Trier's lyrical drama Melancholia leads the field with six nominations. In addition to Best Danish Film, it picked up acting nominations for Kirsten Dunst, Kiefer Sutherland, John Hurt, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Charlotte Rampling.
Next with five nominations was Pernille Fischer Christensen's En familie (A Family). It was nominated for Best Danish Film, and for Best Actor (Jesper Christensen), Actress (Lena Maria Christensen), Supporting Actor (Pilou Asbæk), and Supporting Actress (Anne Louise Hassing).
The three other nominees for Best Danish Film are Ole Christian Madsen's SuperClásico, Heidi Maria Faisst's Frit Fald (Rebounce), and Martin P. Zandvliet's Dirch (A Funny Man). Each received three nominations.
The nominees for Best American Film include Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive. It competes against Debra Granik's Winter's Bone, Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan, the Coen Brothers' True Grit, and Terrence Malick's Tree of Life.
The Non-American Film nominees include Oscar-winner The King's Speech by Tom Hooper, as well as Another Year, Jodaeiye Nader az Simin (A Separation), Des hommes et des dieux (Of Gods and Men), and Oslo, 31. august.
In addition to the announced categories, there will also be awarded a Special Bodil for important contributions during the year; an Honourary Bodil for a person who has led a distinguished career, and a Bodil for Best Cinematographer. This year for the first time, they will also have a Blockbuster Audience Award.
The ceremony for the 65th Bodil-prisen will take place on Saturday, March 3 at the Bremen Theatre in Copenhagen.
