Golden Tomato Awards - winners
Rotten Tomatoes has announced the winners for the 13th Annual Golden Tomato Awards, given to the best-reviewed movies of 2011. The number one Wide Release of the year was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2. The final film in the series scored a rating of 96% favourable reviews from the critics.
It was followed in order by Moneyball, The Muppets, Drive, Hugo, Midnight in Paris, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Source Code, 50/50 and Bridesmaids. Some films received a lower ranking than their percentage score would indicate because fewer reviews were tallied which makes for a larger margin of error.
For Limited Release films, the number one film was Project Nim, followed by A Separation and The Artist. A Separation received a perfect score of 100%, as did Poetry and Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone.
In the genre categories, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 led the Sci-Fi/Fantasy group, Moneyball was top Drama, The Muppets headed the Family films, Project Nim was top Documentary, the top Foreign Film was A Separation, and The Artist topped the comedies. The other genre leaders were Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (Action/Adventure); Arthur Christmas (Animation); Attack the Block (Horror); Weekend (Romance); and Drive (Thriller).
