2011 Preise der deutschen Filmkritik (German Film Critics Awards) - winners
The deutschen Filmkritik verliehene Auszeichnung (German Film Critics Association) handed out their Preise der deutschen Filmkritik 2011 (German Film Critics Awards) at a ceremony in the atrium of the deutschen Bank. Approximately 300 members of the association voted on films that played in German cinemas during the year 2011.
Andreas Dresen's drama about a man suffering from a brain tumour Halt auf freier Strecke (Stopped on Track) took the top prize for Best Picture. It also won for Best Actor (Milan Peschel). It was the co-winner of the Un Certain Regard prize at Cannes with Kim Ki-duk's Arirang.
Yasemin Samdereli's comedy based on first-hand experience as a Turkish immigrant Almanya – Willkommen in Deutschland (Almanya - Welcome To Germany) won for Best Debure Film. Samdereli shared the Screenplay prize with her sister.
Also winning two prizes was Wim Wenders' lovely 3-D documentary Pina. It won for Best Documentary and for editing.
