2012 Magritte du cinéma (Belgian Film Awards) - winners
Belgium's L'Académie André Delvaux held the ceremony for their 2nd Annual Magritte du Cinéma Awards tonight in the Grand Salle du Square of Brussels to honour French-language Belgian cinema.
Bouli Lanners' Les géants (The Giants) came out on top with five awards. They included the top prizes of Best Flim and Best Director for Lanners as well as Best Supporting Actress (Gwen Berrou), Cinematography and Original Music. It had led with twelve nominations.
In second place with four awards was Michaël R. Roskam's Tête de boeuf - Rundskop (Bullhead). It won for Best Flemish Film in Co-Production, Best Screenplay, Best Actor (Matthias Schoenaerts) and Editor. It is a nominee for Best Foreign Language Film at the 84th Annual Academy Awards.
The winner for Best Actress was Lubna Azabal for her role in the Canadian film Incendies. It was a nominee at last year's Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film.
La fée (The Fairy) picked up two awards in the categories of Best Sound and Best Costumes. The only award for Le gamin au vélo (The Kid With A Bike) by the Dardenne brothers was Best New Actor which went to Thomas Doret.
