2012 Premis Gaudí (Catalan film awards) - winners
The Acadèmia del Cinema Català (Catalan Film Academy) held their awards ceremony for their 4th Annual Premis Gaudí (Gaudi Film Awards) tonight at the Teatre Artèria Paral·lel in Barcelona.
Jaume Balagueró's horror film Mientras duermes (Sleep Tight) led the winners with six awards from its fifteen nominations. It won for Best Non-Catalan Film, Director, Screenplay, Actor (Luis Tosar), Editing and Sound.
The science fiction drama Eva by Kike Maillo had led with 16 nominations. It won Best Catalan Film as well as Best Supporting Actor (Lluis Homar), Cinematography, Art Direction and Special Effects.
Other multiple award winners were Bruc, la llegenda (Bruc, the Manhunt) which won for Costume Design, Makeup and Hair and Production Manager; and Chico & Rita which won for Animated Feature and Original Music.
Mireia Ros' Barcelona, abans que el temps ho esborri was named Best Documentary, while Tom Hooper's Oscar-winner The King's Speech continued its more than yearlong winning streak with the prize for Best European Film.
An Honourary Gaudí for Lifetime Achievement was presented to experimental filmmaker Pere Portabella.
