Paolo and Vittorio Taviani's prison drama Cesare deve morire (Caesar Must Die) led with five prizes including the top Best Picture, Director and Producer awards. It had won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Festival.
Paolo Sorrentio's This Must Be The Place captured more awards, however. It won a total of six, including for Best Screenplay and Cinematography.
Nanni Moretti's Habemus Papam (We Have a Pope) took three awards, as did Marco Tullio Giordana's Romanzo Di Una Strage (Story of a Massacre).
Intouchables ( Untouchables) by Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano won for Best European Production. Ashghar Farhadi's Oscar-winner and Golden Bear winner A Separation won for Non-European Foreign Film.
