Radio Canada International (RCI), the international broadcasting service of the CBC, has put out a call for submissions for short films by Canadian students in University, College or CEGEP.
The theme for this year's submissions is "Cultural Crossroads." They prefer the films to be about ten minutes in length but the films may be as long as 30 minutes. If they are not in either English or French, they must be subtitled in English or French.
Selected works will be presented on the rcinet.ca/vision website and possible television broadcast.
The deadline for submissions is May 31, 2012.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS 2011-2012
RADIO CANADA INTERNATIONAL
BECOME A WORLD FILMMAKER
Radio Canada International is looking for new talent in 2011-2012 and invites all Canadian university and college students to produce a short film that will be part of Radio Canada International’s RCI Vision Website. Radio Canada International wants you to produce a short film around the theme of Cultural Crossroads. Whatever your university program, whether it’s journalism, film, theatre, communications, multimedia, or even … business! Become part of Radio Canada International’s World Filmmaker showcase as RCI Vision expands its film repertory with your participation.
Make this part of your university work or feel free to send in something you produced a while ago. As long as it fits with the theme. The maximum length allowed is 30 minutes. Your film can take the form of a television report, a documentary, a work of fiction, an experimental or narrative piece; it can even be a personal and introspective work. The screen is yours! Be part of RCI Vision’s project!
PRODUCE YOURSELF WHERE CULTURES MEET!
Radio Canada International invites you to be its eyes and ears and bear witness to the social, cultural, demographic and artistic transitions taking place across the country, by submitting your cinematographic post card. Some examples? A film about internal and physical migrations or your integration in a new place? About exile, identity, intertwining cultures, mixed couples? Tell us about yourself, about your parents, about your roots ! Or still yet, produce a short work about a Canadian personality whatever their discipline might be. And choose your genre: Fiction, report, documentary, animation, portrait, experimental. The screen is yours!
AIRING AND BROADCASTING OF YOUR WORK
Your film will be selected to be aired on the rcinet.ca/vision website and the best works will be regrouped to be presented in a nationwide event. RCI Vision is unique in its mandate and favors short works. RCI Vision’s selection of works have also been shown on affiliated television stations, at world film festivals, and in Canadian museums, schools, colleges, and universities.
Send in your short film (excluding credits) by May 31st 2012 or sooner! It can be produced in a language other than English or French as long as it is subtitled in one of the two. You can submit as many films as you like, whether they were produced in 2011-12 or earlier! As long as they fit the theme and length criteria. Any questions? We’re ready to hear from you! And love to talk to people!
