2012 MTV Video Music Awards – nominations
The nominees for the 29th annual MTV Video Music Awards were unveiled today. Rihanna and Drake led the field with five nominations each.
Rihanna's "We Found Love" was nominated for Video of the Year, Best Female Video and Best Pop Video. "Where Have You Been" was nominated for Best Choreography and Best Visual Effects. In addition, she is featured on Drake's "Take Care" which received four nominations, and on Coldplay's "Princess of China" which was nominated for Best Cinematography and Best Direction.
The nominations for Drake's "Take Care" were for Video of the Year, Best Male Video, Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography. His fifth nomination was for "HYFR" featuring Lil Wayne, which picked up a Best Hip-Hop Video mention.
Katy Perry was next with with four nods. "Wide Awake" was nominated for Video of the Year, Best Art Direction and Best Visual Effects and "Part of Me" is in the running for Best Female Video.
Winners are determined by public voting on their website at http://www.mtv.com/ontv/vma/2012/.
The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards will take place at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 6, at 8 p.m. ET and be broadcast live.
