Call for submissions: NSI Drama Prize
The National Screen Institute – Canada (NSI) is now accepting applications for its NSI Drama Prize course. Applications must be received by Tuesday, November 27, 2012.
NSI Drama Prize is an ambitious short film training course that provides up to $10,000 in cash, $20,000 in services and mentoring from Canada’s industry leaders for up to four writer/director/producer teams to develop and produce a short film.
The year-long, three-phase course kicks off in Winnipeg with an intensive boot camp in writing, directing and producing. Topics include script writing, film budgeting and financing, working with actors, blocking and shooting scenes and social media marketing.
NSI’s Elise Swerhone serves as program manager. Sean Garrity is program advisor and director facilitator during boot camp. Shereen Jerrett is the writer facilitator and Brendon Sawatzky is the producer facilitator.
“NSI Drama Prize provides budding filmmakers with the chance to make a quality short film and get their foot in the door through to a national stage,” said NSI Director of Programming Melissa Kajpust. “The connections and experience obtained through this course are priceless.”
Read our guidelines and download the application form. Applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday, November 27, 2012.
2011 NSI Drama Prize grads Danis Goulet, Christine Kleckner, Ashley McKenzie, Martha Cooley and Nelson MacDonald screened their films Barefoot and When You Sleep at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival.
