Rendezvous With Madness Film Festival 2012, Nov 9-17

Workman Arts launches the 20th annual Rendezvous with Madness Film Festival (RWMFF) tonight at the TIFF Bell Lightbox with a screening of the Dutch film Kauwboy (Little Bird) by Boudewijn Koole. The award-winning film is about a boy with an alcoholic father who discovers and nurtures a baby jackdaw, and is the Netherlands' Best Foreign Film submission to the 2013 Academy Awards. It will be preceded by a wine and cheese reception at the TIFF Lounge.

The festival will close with Matthew Lillard's Sundance festival hit Fat Kid Rules the World. All of the screenings will take place with the filmmaker in attendance and/or mental health professionals/commentators. The films are a springboard for discussion to further understand ourselves and mental health issues.

In addition to screenings, the festival hosts the 12th edition of the Being Scene juried art exhibition. This includes Cinemanic: A Different Kind of Picture Show at T.A.N. Coffee, 992 Queen Street West (Opening Reception is on Saturday November 10, 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.) and a Mark Belvedere solo exhibition From the Series: Excuse Me I Think I’ve Got a Heartache.

The 20th annual Rendezvous with Madness Film Festival runs to November 17 at Workman Arts, 651 Dufferin Street, and other locations.
