British Independent Film Awards 2012 – winners


The 15th annual Moët British Independent Film Awards took place tonight at Old Billingsgate in London. Actor and BIFA patron James Nesbitt hosted the event.

Broken by Rufus Norris took the top prize of Best British Independent Film. It also won for Best Supporting Actor, which went to Rory Kinnear. It had led with 9 nominations

Peter Strickland's Berberian Sound Studio, however, picked up a larger haul on the night, with four awards. It won Best Director, as well as Best Actor (Toby Jones), Best Achievement in Production and Best Technical Achievement.

In addition to winning Best Documentary, Bart Layton won the Douglas Hickox Award for Best Debut Director for his film The Imposter.

Sir Michael Gambon received the Richard Harris Award and The Variety Award was presented to Jude Law.
