César du cinéma 2013 – nominations
France's Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma announced the nominations for the 38th annual César du cinéma.
Leading the field was Noemie Lvovsky's Camille redouble (Camille Rewinds) with thirteen nominations. In addition to Best Film and Best Director, Lvovskywas also personally nominated for Best Actress and Best Original Screenplay. The film also picked up six additional acting nominations.
Close behind at ten nominations apiece were Michael Haneke's Amour and Les Adieux à la reine (Farewell, My Queen) by Benoit Jacquot. De rouille et d’os (Rust and Bone) by Jacques Audiard and Holy Motors by Leos Carax each followed with nine mentions. All four films were also nominated for both Best Film and Best Director.
With six nominations, Francois Ozon's Dans la maison (In the House) also scored for both Best Film and Best Director. The seventh Best Film spot, however, went to Le prénom (What’s in a Name) by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre De La Patelliere, while the seventh Best Director nod went to Stephane Brize for Quelques heures de printemps (A Few Hours of Spring).
Canada's Xavier Dolan was nominated for Best Foreign Film for Laurence Anyways, while Franck Dion's co-production with Canada's National Film Board Edmond etait un ane (Edmond Was a Donkey) was nominated for Best Animated Film.
The 38th Cérémonie des César takes place on February 22 and will be hosted by Jamel Debbouze.
