Deutscher Filmpreis 2013 (German Film Awards) – winners

The Deutsche Filmakademie (German Film Academy) held the ceremonay last night for the 63rd Deutscher Filmpreis or "Lolas" at the Berliner Friedrichstadt-Palast. The evening was hosted by Mirjam Weichselbraun.

The top winner of the night was the comedic feature Oh Boy by Jan Ole Gerster. It won six prizes total including Beat Film – Gold. It also won for Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Actor (Tom Schilling), Best Supporting Actor (Michael Gwisdek), Best Editor and Best Film Music.

The winner for Best Film – Silver was Hannah Arendt by Margarethe von Trotta. It also won for Best Actress (Barbara Sukowa). The Best Film – Bronze winner was Cate Shortland's Lore.

The big-budget Cloud Atlas by Lana Wachowski, Andy Wachowski and Tom Tykwer won the second-most trophies with five. But they were all in the Technical and Craft categories including Makeup – which controversially had actors crossing race and gender lines. The sprawling three-hour film had led the nominations with nine.

Werner Herzog received an Honourary Award for outstanding contribution to German film. The winner of the Audience Awards was Schlussmacher by Matthias Schweighöfer.
