The Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival has put out a call for submissions for their 2014 festival which takes place in the spring.
The Hot Docs festival is the largest documentary festival in North America, and a critical launch pad for films. The festival is an Academy accredited festival, and the winner of the Best Short Documentary award automatically becomes qualified for consideration at the next Academy Awards.
The deadlines and fees have changed this year. The Early Bird Deadline is November 22, 2013, the regular deadline is December 13, 2013, and the late deadline is January 3, 2014. Fees range from $25-50 for short documentaries and $50-$150 for feature-length documentaries.
The 2014 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival runs from April 24 to May 4, 2014.

Shorts (29 minutes or less): $25 ($22.12 + $2.88 HST)

Online forms must be submitted no later than December 13, 2013, at 11:59 p.m. EST.
Submissions to this deadline must be postmarked no later than December 13, 2013.

LATE DEADLINE – January 3, 2013
We strongly recommend that applicants submit for the early-bird or regular deadline.

ELIGIBILITY
All submissions:
• must have been completed after January 1, 2013;
• must be at minimum Toronto premieres (i.e. cannot have been screened publicly in Toronto prior to the 2014 Festival, including broadcast versions of any length);
• must be in English, subtitled in English or English versioned (non-English language films may be submitted with an English transcript; however, if selected for Hot Docs, it must be subtitled or dubbed into English at the applicant’s expense);
• may not have submitted to the Festival previously in any stage of completion (i.e. films that were submitted as rough cuts will not be reconsidered. If you have any specific questions regarding this, please contact us.
