2014 Quinzaine des Réalisateurs (Directors' Fortnight) awards – winners
The Cannes festival sidebar Quinzaine des Réalisateurs (Directors' Fortnight) presented their awards on Friday, although they are technically non-competitive.
The feature directorial debut of French director Thomas Cailley Les Combattants (Love at First Fight) swept all three of the main awards, the first time that this has ever happened. It took the top prize Art Cinema Award, as well as the Société des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques' SACD Prize and the Europa Cinéma Label Prize.
In addition, FIPRESCI announced on Friday that it Les Combattants was also the winner of their prize for best film in a Cannes independent sidebar.
The film is a romantic comedy about a man Arnaud who is literally knocked off his feet by Madeleine, and he decides to join with her in her army training.
The Illy prize for short film went to Sem Coração (Heartless) by Nara Normande and Tião. A Special Mention was awarded to Trece Si Prin Perete (It Can Pass Through the Wall) by Radu Jude.
