In all, there are 40 feature films, 28 feature documentaries, 30 short or medium animated films and 34 short or medium-length fiction films that were assessed by different juries in recent weeks under the supervision of Québec cinema.
The 2015 Jutra-Hommage Award will be presented to André Melançon, director, screenwriter and actor who has captured the imagination of generations. This decision was taken by the Quebec Film Board, on the unanimous recommendation of the Comité de représentation professionnelle (CRP), an advisory committee comprising representatives of professional associations in the Quebec film. "André Melançon is an important figure in our film for over 40 years. He directed, wrote and starred in true classics of Québec cinema. Even today, his work has a deep resonance in the public's heart and creates bridges between generations, "said Ségolène Roederer, Director General of Québec Cinéma. "It is with great joy that we celebrate the many talents of this inspiring personality appreciated by all at the 17th Jutra Awards!"
The 17th Soirée des Jutra will be hosted by Penelope McQuade and Stéphane Bellavance at the Monument-National in Montreal on Sunday, March 15.
